2010 Iowa State Fair Midway Mania a Steal with This Year’s Bargains
“Non Stop Fun” at the 2010 Iowa State Fair includes enough heart-stopping thrill rides and entertainment on the Midway to test even the most daring Fairgoers. And with several ways to save, Fairgoers can enjoy even more rides. The Fair is set August 12-22.
Once again, Fairgoers can save big at the Midway by planning ahead for the 2010 Fair. Purchase a set of five Midway tickets for $13; each ticket is good for one ride. For an even bigger day of Midway excitement, purchase a Mega Pass wristband for just $25. It includes unlimited mechanical rides any one Fair day from open to close, including weekends. These Midway special savings must be purchased by August 11 and are available now at www.iowastatefair.org and the Iowa State Fair Ticket Office. Mega Passes can also be purchased at statewide Walgreens and Des Moines-area Hy-Vee stores.
The Iowa State Fair is pleased to welcome back Belle City Amusements for a second year of zips, dips and twirls that are guaranteed to delight Fairgoers of all ages. This year, don’t miss out on the Power Surge, a hair-raising spinning sensation that whirls riders upside down, defying gravity and simulating the thrilling rush of a fighter plane. “Non Stop Fun” continues for all ages with fifteen kid-friendly rides. Young Fairgoers can enjoy age-appropriate thrills on two mini coasters, take a peaceful helicopter or airplane ride, whirl around on the Yo-Yo Swings and more.
For more heart-pounding entertainment, try the thrill rides west of Walnut Square. The Crazy Mouse rollercoaster is back by popular demand. This wild ride not only speeds riders down a zig-zagging track, but spins each car around in a complete circle at the same time. The Ejection Seat uses two springy bungee cords to launch riders 150 feet into the air at speeds of 60 miles per hour. The Skyscraper, another Fair favorite, blasts Fairgoers 160 feet in the air in mere seconds. Ride costs may vary.
The Iowa State Fair is set for “Non Stop Fun” August 12-22, 2010. For more information, call 800/545-FAIR or visit iowastatefair.org.
